Getting Here

Alkoomie is just a 30 minute drive from Cooktown. The road is unsealed and is therefore suitable for 4WDs only. Other travel options are:

  • Self drive 4WD from Cairns is just 4 hours
  • 4WD picked up by Alkoomie staff from Cooktown will cost $25 per person
  • Helicopter from Cairns to Alkoomie
  • Charter flight (small plane) Cairns to Alkoomie (1000mt airstrip on Mt Dickson)
