Day Tours
On an Alkoomie day tour, you will discover the rich cultural, historical and natural beauty of this unique location.
Highland Tour
Setting out from the homestead, we firstly travel to the Top of the World lookout, a natural, rocky outcrop providing spectacular views of the peaceful scenic valley below, and out to the Coral Sea and fringes of the Great Barrier Reef. Here we pause for photos and to soak up the serenity and natural beauty of Alkoomie, a large privately owned eco-tourist park. Then, it's on to the Springs Waterfall, Pandanus Palm Rock Pool and Waterfall for a swim. Relax at this natural oasis with a refreshing drink, cheese and crackers.
Lowland Tour
Step back through time, as we explore surrounding farming areas on the old Cobb and Co Roads, which used to take miners to the Palmer River Goldfields. These roads were all hand made and you can still see the original stone pitching and cuttings through the escarpments. Moving through the surrounding farm lands, you'll see the cattle and horses grazing peacefully. From here, we visit Butterfly Spring, where you can watch out for one of the many species of local fauna that live here, and then it's on to the cattle yards for a real outback experience. Watch and participate, with lighter duties, as the stockmen work the cattle and horses (seasonal). * $85 per person including picnic lunch / min 4 people (discounts apply for guests).
Note: Tours can be arranged for smaller groups upon enquiry.
